I am a huge and long time fan of Alicia Keys. She was my crush. It comes as no surprise why I am always pleased to see her pushing herself to some unknown depths. I like her new movement of being and encouraging women to go natural.
But lemme first say this; a little make-up doesn’t hurt. Women will always be women and there’s something attractive about that simple added flair. However, when “the paint” is too much to resemble a Halloween Outing, nah nah nah!
Talking about Alicia’s new direction as far as beauty is concerned, she has penned an interesting essay for Lenny Letter(if you are not a subscriber for Lenny Letter you may be asked to subscribe to read the essay). It’s an interesting piece. Alicia says her barefaced beauty came about as an inspiration from a shoot with photographer Paola Kudacki.
“I’d just come from the gym, had a scarf under my baseball cap, and the beautiful photographer Paola (never met a Paola I didn’t like) said, ‘I have to shoot you right now, like this! The music is raw and real, and these photos have to be too!’”
As a result, the photo shoot became an inspiration for the first single “In Common” from her upcoming sixth studio album that she hasn’t given a title yet. And she is not backing down anytime soon.
