What a generous First Family! Sasha and Malia Obama along with their parents served Thanksgiving dinner for homeless veterans before having their own celebration. Talk about a great way to give thanks!
Malia Obama, 17, and her sister Sasha, 14, are just too sweet! President Barack Obama‘s daughters are taking after their parents’ thoughtful ways and joined them for an afternoon of giving back on Thanksgiving. The girls spent their turkey day serving a full Thanksgiving meal to homeless veterans in Washington, D.C. Isn’t that a cool thing to do for the holiday?
The Obamas’ food serving gig was part of D.C.’s Friendship Place homeless shelter’s “Feast with Friends” event, which is an incredibly appropriate way to give thanks. As dozens of former servicemen came through the food line, they were greeted by the First Family who thanked them for their courage and sacrifice. Barack, Sasha, Malia, and Michelle Obama gave the veterans a traditional Thanksgiving feast, serving up everything from turkey to mashed potatoes and gravy to stuffing. All four members of the family engaged in conversation with the vets, with Obama telling them “we appreciate you” and simply asking how they are doing. It’s so cool to see such a famous family do something so amazing for the less fortunate on a holiday!
“It’s not only of the spirit of giving during this holiday season, but our national obligation to make sure all those who serve and sacrifice for our country have a place to call home,” Barack said prior to the “Feast with Friends” event, according to Daily Mail. Barack is clearly on a mission to help the homeless as much as he can — and we love that he’s getting his family into it too!
Sasha and Malia also joined their dad for the annual turkey pardoning just one day before serving dinner to vets. Dressed in fashionably cozy fall outfits, the girls stood by their dad as he cracked jokes and did his yearly Thanksgiving turkey duty. He adorably thanked Malia and Sasha for accompanying him, adding how much he appreciates that the girls indulge him by taking part in his Presidential duties! Even if it was Barack’s idea to have the family spend their Thanksgiving holiday serving dinner to homeless vets, it’s great that their family bonding can be so helpful to others!
